Groom Prep

I can remember when I got married, at the beginning of all the planning, I couldn't decide on what suit I wanted to wear, just to make sure I felt comfortable and had the right outfit, I ended up buying three different suits, a couple of pairs of shoes and an untold amount of accessories: different watches, cufflinks, etc. So don’t panic, you’re not alone. The good thing about it is you're not the only one!

When you finally get to the wedding day, you’ll have just the perfect outfit and accessories to wear. So during the grooms prep photos, I’ll make it very easy for you. We begin with the details, while you’re getting ready I’ll ask you for a few of the items you’ll be wearing.

  • Rings

  • Tie

  • Buttonhole

  • New Shoes

  • Watch

  • Bottle of fragrance

  • Gift from the bride

If you have these items, I’ll then arrange them in a flat lay photo, and photograph those. in some ways, the details set the stage for the look of the whole wedding and I love having ample time to stylise and shoot everything. I ask grooms to gather any details they have before I arrive so that I can walk in, say hello and then begin with all the goodies!

I've done a few grooms prep shoots now, I’m often quite helpful when you need a buttonhole or two attaching. I'm don’t arrive until you’re almost dressed. I would try to make sure that once your trousers, shirt and socks are on then we're probably do some posed photos putting on your shoes, your jacket, doing up your tie. If you have a card from your bride, if you could save that to open until I arrive. It’s alway a great photo, once you’re dressed and to see the emotion on your face as you read it.

It’s great to have your groomsmen with you, and we can get some photos of all of you together, this saves time later during the day, with family formal photos.

Overall, there’s nothing to worry about, I’m there to capture the morning and be on hand if you need me for anything.
